Please join us for a “Pounding” for Rev. Greg Smith, his wife, Helen, and daughter, Megan on July 28, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. We will also have ice cream and maybe even some peach cobbler!
If you have never heard of a Pounding, here’s an explanation: The idea of a Pounding dates back to the age of the original Quakers. The custom was established to welcome a new pastor and his family into a congregation. The idea was to give the family a pound of pantry staples...corn, wheat, sugar, butter, etc. It was a sign of hospitality and welcome.
Now, we don’t live in a time of cellars and dry storage. We are more of a coffee and chocolate kind of culture. Help us shower the Smith family with love by bringing “pounds” of pantry staples or gift cards to help them stock up the kitchen in their new home.
