Adult Small Groups & Studies

We offer a wide variety of Adult Sunday School Classes. It is our hope and prayer you will find a class who you can connect, study, share and fellowship with.

We begin new classes often. If you're interested in joining, leading or starting a class please email secretary@saintmarknorthport.com.

Sunday Mornings

Agape

Led by Jerry Moss, this class is comprised of middle aged adults who seek to serve Jesus by Biblical study and by supporting and participating in international missions.  Class members serve by finding ways to help heal our community with disaster relief through Camp Coker, Care Construction (home repairs and yard work for people in the church and the community that need a little assistance), and international mission work.

harrison-seekers

Harrison- Seekers

Led by David Kelly, this diverse group of middle aged adults uses open discussion and a United Methodist weekly Bible study to draw closer to God.  They are active both inside and outside the church, serving the people of God through the St. Mark Food Pantry, Giving Tree, and Turning Point.

Nova-fellowship

Led by various members of this mature and active class who volunteer to teach lessons from the Adult Bible Study series.  Our class is a place where Scripture and stories meet, questions get asked, and discussions are welcomed.  We believe in the power of prayer and serving by supporting and participating in a multitude of church/mission projects (i.e.  Care Construction jobs, Caring Days, Camp Sumatanga, Men and Women's Kairos prison ministries, Emmaus, and the St. Mark Food pantry and UMW).  The Nova-Fellowship class meets in the Church Parlor.  We invite you to meet with us for fellowship, prayer, service, and song!

the current sunday school group

The Current

Led by Blake and Ashleigh Newman, The Current is a group of 20 and 30 year-olds that is committed to study, service, and fellowship.  This class welcomes singles and couples that seek to know God better and join in Christian fellowship.

Jenkins

Led by different members, the Jenkins is class committed to learning in a relaxed and open atmosphere.  Members use the United Methodist Adult Bible Study series each week but will also use special studies if members choose to do so.  The class supports children here and abroad, specifically the Challenge Farm that offers a Christian home for homeless children in Kenya.

Steadfast

Led by various members of the class, this group of 30-40+ year olds discusses topics relevant to life as men and women in today’s world.  The Steadfast class strives to uplift one another in prayer, sharing, and bonding together in Christian love and acceptance.

voyagers

Led by Mark Scogin, this group of middle-aged adults is studying and praying their way through the Bible.  The Voyagers class is committed to various on-going mission projects that support the Kingdom of God.

Genesis

Led by Robert Humphreys and Fox Harmon, this class is guided by Biblical principles by reading and discussing the Bible.  They seek to serve God by serving others,; they support students in Honduras, special camps at Camp Sumatanga, and a University of Alabama student.

Mccollum

Led by John Bostick, Norman Carlson, Pat Bohannon, Tom Hunter, and Roy Maize, the McCollum class is one of two original adult Sunday school classes of St. Mark.  They study through the Bible every three years by using a weekly United Methodist Bible study.  Deeply involved with supporting missions, this class donates to the United Methodist Children’s Home, back-to-school projects, the Giving Tree, Caring Days, and other needs as they arise.

Vineyard

Led by Bridgett Monk and Harry Gabriel, this class often studies various books of the BIble, and studies books written by Christian authors as well.  The Vineyard welcomes folks of all ages, and is committed to serving those in need by participating with the ministry of the West Alabama Community Soup Kitchen.

whosoever

Led by Rev. Dick & Linda Wright and Chester Norris, the Whosoever class invites visitors and newcomers to join us in prayerful, thoughtful, Biblical studies.  This inter-generational class, started in 2007, welcomes all adults who seek Jesus and want to grow in their faith.  They serve by helping various families in need and supporting Kairos prison ministry, Emmaus, and the St. Mark Food Pantry.

We meet Wednesday nights at 6:00pm in the Vineyard Classroom. A time for sharing, praying and Study. Bring your Bible (any translation) and a commentary, if you have one. We welcome any ladies who would like to drop by and check it out!

Young at heart

This is a vibrant ministry aimed at those aged 55 and older. The Young At Heart group joins together on the first Tuesday of every month for a time of food, fellowship and fun. Whether it's taking a road trip, hearing from a special guest speaker, or celebrating the holidays, there is always something interesting going on. There is always plenty of room for anyone who is “young at heart”.

Marriage Ministry

“Enriching , Empowering and Encouraging the Lord’s Sacred Creation of Marriage”

The Marriage Mentoring small group meets Wednesday nights at 5:30 pm in the Harrison-Seekers Classroom.
